Cosmetic Restorations

Cosmetic Restorations

Florence Dental Care has extensive options for restoring your teeth and smile.

White Composite Fillings

Dental fillings are used to repair damage to the structure of a tooth resulting from tooth decay, wear or trauma. After cleaning out the problematic area, the dentist will fill the tooth cavity with a white, non-mercury composite resin that looks natural and makes the tooth strong and resistant to decay. Composite fillings are virtually undetectable and make teeth stronger and more durable.

Porcelain Crowns

A dental crown is a restoration that completely covers or "caps" a tooth. It may be recommended for restoring a fractured tooth, covering a dental implant, attaching a bridge or covering a poorly shaped, discolored or root canal treated tooth. Whether used to restore cosmetic appeal to a damaged tooth or to create a lifelike tooth replacement for an implant, crowns can be fabricated by Florence Dental Care to meet your specific situation.

Part of your dental crown consultation may involve taking impressions of your existing tooth as a basis for creating the shape and size of your crown restoration. If dental crowns will be used as part of a smile makeover, these impressions are used to make models for designing the new length, shape and alignment of your teeth, so that you can preview your new smile before committing to treatment. We use a variety of crown materials to meet specific patient needs. The partial list includes all major options: Lava, Procera, Bruxzir and Empress.

Most crowns can be completed in a single day. See our CEREC page for more information.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin, custom made shells that bond directly to the front surface of the teeth. They are crafted from tooth colored, advanced materials and yield a natural, bright smile. Veneers look like normal teeth and are an ideal choice for improving a smile due to their simplicity and versatility. Unlike most bonding materials, veneers will not change color over time. Placing custom veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail. We place veneers routinely and design each case individually to match a patient’s smile.

Veneers can be completed in a single day.

Composite Bonding

Involves the placement of tooth-colored resin material to enhance their color, shape or size of a tooth. It is one of the simplest cosmetic procedures we can do for our patients. The procedure usually involves the removal of minimal tooth structure and in one visit you can have a new smile. Cosmetic bonding is one of the most conservative, versatile and affordable ways to aesthetically restore a multitude of smile problems including:

  • instant repairs
  • crooked or poorly shaped teeth
  • spaces between teeth
  • worn teeth
  • permanently stained teeth

Inlays and Onlays

When more than half of the tooth’s biting surface is damaged or when there is a need for an inherently stronger material, a porcelain inlay or onlay may be indicated. Similar to a filling, an inlay is used inside the cusp tips of the tooth. An onlay is a more substantial reconstruction, similar to an inlay, but extends out over one or more of the cusps of the tooth. Porcelain inlays and onlays are the treatment of choice for a number of reasons. They provide a natural look and can be etched and bonded to the tooth creating a stronger more durable tooth for many years to come. Porcelain is completely biocompatible and has physical characteristics as close to that of natural teeth as possible.

Many inlays/onlays can be completed in a single day. See our CEREC page for more information.
